Blood Is Thicker Than Water?

When it comes to my relationship with my family lately , especially with my parents, I get skeptical of the saying “Blood is thicker than water” . I don’t really agree with the saying as sometimes or rather most of the times, those who aren’t related to you by blood are the ones who understand you the most especially when you want to share your problems with them. Sometimes I feel like I could trust those outside of my family more than my own family members and feel more comfortable opening up to them, knowing they won’t judge me.

I havent been enjoying the kind of relationship I have with my own family lately – there are lots of arguments, the feeling of suffocation from all the nagging and not to mention, favoritism and judgment from them which hurts a lot.

Sometimes , family members are the first ones to hurt us when they are supposed to care and show support. They’re supposedly the first ones to understand my struggles with sleeping well but due to how they react right away, I have doubts if I could trust them with it. This is why I prefer opening up to people who aren’t related to me by blood (particularly my rp mates and my girlfriend).

Another reason I get skeptical or doubtful of the saying per se is that I really don’t feel like my own family members are really a family to me at all or act like one when it comes to showing moral support about my being in a relationship with a girl.
