A chest infection occurs when there is a buildup of pus and fluid (mucus) and when the airways become swollen, making it hard for the person to breathe. This can affect people of all ages – young and elderly as well as the ill stricken and smokers.   • Fast or difficult breathing

  • Coughing with brown or green colored phlegm

  • Chest pain or discomfort

  • High temperature

  • Cyanosis

  • Stomach pain

  • Headaches

  • General aches and pains

  • Loss of appetite

  • Vomiting, diarrhea, irritability and being lethargic (for a child)

  • Tiredness

  • Virus

  • Bacteria

  • Mycoplasma

Treating Chest Infection

  • Flu vaccine

  • Medications

  • Drinking plenty of fluids

  • Lots of rest

  • Quit smoking

  • Prep a couple of pillows at night
