Dealing With My Own "Addiction"
Everyone or most of us surely deals with "addiction" - doesn't necessarily have to lie solely on drugs or illegal substances but other things such as social media and stuff.
Even I had my own fair share of dealing with an addiction and nope, I didn't take an illegal drug or substance but it's more on energy drinks like Sting or Cobra. It was dated way back during college years, especially during P.E. or breaks from every class. I would drink bottle.. after bottle... after bottle.. as I assume it would give me the strength I needed, unaware of the possible setbacks or harmful effects they would have on my health. Another reason why I've been consuming those kinds of drinks is that it was my way of relieving stress while reviewing for an exam or doing homeworks.
Ann, a college friend and classmate of mine, sees this and started to become concerned and asked me to stop or quit while it was too early. To be honest , I was quite hesitant at first as I thought there's nothing wrong with it. Little did I know I was slowly becoming addicted to it -which is something I'm not really proud of.
What are really the effects of consuming energy drinks?
Discoloration of teeth/wearing out of enamel over time
Chronic health issues (heart disease, diabetes, etc)
Irritable mood when not using them
Withdrawal symptoms
Energy drink addiction is just like cigarette or liquor addiction and any kind or form of addiction should really be stopped.
